Tap start on Home and lay the phone face-down; the clock starts after about 0.6 seconds. Lifting the phone pauses it and shows a warning. In Hardcore mode (Settings), if the phone is not put back within the grace period (default 10 seconds), today's in-app record is reset. Keep the app open during a session; leaving the app counts as a lift.
Place it on a flat surface with the screen fully facing down. A thick case or a slanted surface can delay detection. Devices without a motion sensor (the simulator, iPad apps on Mac) show a manual "flip" button instead.

The app contains the schedules of more than 100 exams, including CSAT, civil-service, professional and language tests, and you can create or edit exams in Settings (Pro). For exams without an official date, set your own target date.
No. Deskdown is an unofficial practice tool and is not affiliated with any exam authority. Always check the official announcements for dates and schedules.
Only on this device; nothing is sent to a server. Study records are kept for up to 5 years. The app has no sync of its own, but they are included in a full iPhone backup (iCloud or Mac) and return when you restore it with the same Apple account. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Tap Settings › "Delete all records". This cannot be undone.
Check that notifications are on in Settings › Deskdown › Notifications. Without them you will not get the 10- and 5-minute exam cues or the warning when the phone is lifted.
Microphone access must be allowed in Settings › Deskdown. The meter stops when the app goes to the background. It only computes the level (dB); sound is never recorded or stored.
Both devices need Local Network allowed in Settings › Deskdown, and the same Wi-Fi or Bluetooth turned on. A room holds up to 5 people and the 4-digit room code must match. Stay close to each other.
AI phrasing is used on devices that support Apple Intelligence (with Apple Intelligence turned on), or after you download a model in Settings › AI model management (Pro). Other devices keep using rule-based recommendations. The 4B model needs a device with 8 GB of RAM or more.
Free shows the D-day only. Study time, goals and the weekly chart are part of Deskdown Pro. If you own Pro and still do not see them, open the app once.
