Deskdown has no accounts and keeps everything it creates on your device. The developer collects no personal data, and there are no ads or tracking. The network is used only when you choose to download an AI model file.
LuraAI ("we") does not collect personal information through Deskdown ("the app").
The following is stored only on your device so the app can work.
Study records are kept for up to 5 years; records older than 5 years are deleted automatically when the app opens. You can delete everything yourself at any time with Settings › "Delete all records", and deleting the app removes all of it from the device.
If you decline a permission, only that feature is unavailable.

Daily, weekly and monthly recommendations are calculated and written on your device from your records. The numbers and the recommendations are decided by the app's rules; a language model is only used to phrase them. On devices that support Apple Intelligence the app can use Apple's on-device model, and you can turn that off in Settings. Your records and notes are not sent anywhere in this process.
Only after you choose and confirm it in Settings › AI model management, the app downloads model files (Qwen3, Qwen3-TTS, EmbeddingGemma) from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) and stores them on the device. The request contains only the file address and ordinary network information (such as your IP address); it does not include your study records or notes. Downloads use Wi-Fi only by default, and you can delete the files at any time. After the download the models run on your device without the internet. The app uses no other network connection. Hugging Face's own privacy policy applies to that service.
When you create a room with people nearby, only your nickname, current status (focused, lifted, etc.) and counted seconds are exchanged, encrypted, over short-range wireless (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth). No internet server is involved, and a member needs the 4-digit room code to join. Sharing stops when you leave the room. The nickname is a name you choose; you do not need to use your real name.
If you use the Home and Lock Screen widgets or the Apple Watch app, today's and this week's study time, your goal, the D-day, the recommendation text and whether you own Pro are shared between the app, the widgets and the watch on your devices only. Nothing is sent outside.
Deskdown Pro is a one-time, lifetime in-app purchase through Apple's StoreKit, not a subscription. Payment and receipt validation are handled entirely by Apple; we receive no payment or Apple account information. Whether you own Pro is checked on the device from Apple's receipt.
Because we collect no personal information, there is nothing to share with or sell to third parties. The app uses no cookies, advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking, and no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. On-device AI uses open-source libraries (such as MLX) that do not send data anywhere.
We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
All data is on your device, so you can view and delete it in the app. Settings › "Delete all records" removes study records, noise records, notes, AI recommendations and the goal and exam settings. Downloaded AI models are removed separately in Settings › AI model management. Deleting the app removes all of its data from the device.
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it, and important changes are mentioned in the app's release notes.
